Since 1918, American women have answered their country's call to serve. We have served proudly with distinction and honor; each generation evolving but always retaining our proud traditions. The Women Marines Association is the only veterans association for and about women Marines. We have gone from "Free a Man to Fight, "  to being with our fellow Marines in every clime and on every shore.

With these fantastic strides we are making, we as women are also losing a very important part of our history on how we became Marines the more integrated we become. Ours as well is a very rich history that many do not know or understand. In our history we went from Marinettes to Women Reserves (WR's) to Women Marines (WM's) to Marines. From learning to apply make up and walk like a lady in uniform to applying camo and patrolling the streets of Bagdad.

These doors were opened by generations of Marines who pushed the limits and excelled at being Marines.

It is our hopes as an association of women Marines, active duty, veterans and retirees, to not only reopen the doors of our history but to show Marines our history and our future. Even within our organization we have so many trailblazers from Carol Mutter LtGen retired, rising to the highest ranks attained at that time in the Corps and military for women. BrigGen Angela Salinas first woman commander of MCRD San Diego, Capt Vernice Armour the first African American woman Pilot and during Operation Iraqi Freedom the first African American woman combat pilot. The list is endless. We would like to add you to our list of women who proudly wear the EGA to our group.  We have members that are now 100+ years of age. They have seen our integration into the Corps when it was known we were not wanted to now being a vital part of all military operations.
